My Running and Fundraising in 2018

My Running and Fundraising in 2018

I recently founded and started a mental illness peer support group in Southend on Sea, Essex. It is on for 2 hours on every second Wednesday of each month and began in November 2017. I did this by bringing the idea to Rethink Mental Illness in London and they supported me in finding other volunteers to help set up the group. In our last meeting on January 10th, we discussed a healthy lifestyle and exercise. We had a turnout of 24 people which is a record turnout for support groups Rethink Mental Illness supports. The CEO of Rethink Mental Illness is planning to give a talk and attend our groups meeting on March 14th.

In 2018 the group will need to be self funded and therefore I am hoping to raise valuable funds for the group. Any funds raised will principally pay for the cost of the venue hire every month and refreshments of tea and coffee!

Last year I raised £395.42 for Rethink Mental Illness (plus £70 for St Helena’s hospice that care for my late Mum) by doing three 10KM runs and the Southend Half Marathon. I have setup my one and only fundraising page this year where I will attempt to do more running. I’ll be starting with the London Vitality 10KM race again in May. I would appreciate it (as well as our group members) if you could sponsor me.
