Rethink Mental Illness

Rethink Mental Illness

  • 17 Sep 2018

Rethink Mental Illness is a mental health charity that help millions of people affected by mental illness by challenging attitudes, changing lives.  They give advice, provide support to support groups and campaign.  Rethink also provide a recovery and employment service (contracted by the NHS) to mental health service users in my local borough of Southend on Sea.  They do a lot of great work in my local area and have been a great help to me.

In 2017 I fundraised £395.42 for Rethink Recovery Point in Southend by doing the London Winter Run 10KM, London Vitality 10,0000, the Southend Half Marathon and the Southend 10K Classic.

Since September 2018 I have been a Volunteer and Involvement Worker on occasion in Rethink’s Headquarters in London:

  • A physical Activity Project Adviser as part of a steering group to rollout physical activities to some of Rethink’s National Groups network. Involves attending half day meetings held in London every quarter and liaising via email.
  • A member of the Lived Experience Advisory Board (LEAB) that involves meeting with the leadership team including the CEO and Chair of Trustees every quarter for a day.
  • I began working as a Trusts and Grants Fundraising Volunteer 1-2 days a week from 12th April 2019.
